This 1945 herringbone D-28 has been cared for by one owner for the last 30 years and is a beautiful example of Martin's war era guitars. The finish is original with some expected play wear and a golden patina. The sound of this instrument is exceptional with a deep, robust voice that maintains clarity and note separation. It's truly a pleasure to play! This is a tapered braced guitar featuring old growth adirondack spruce and beautifully figured brazilian rosewood.
In regards to repairs and originality, the guitar is equipped with the original tuners, bridge pens, and bridge plate. The bridge has been replaced by a master luthier, but the original bridge is included. The original frets were replaced with EVO fret wire. The guitar has a repaired crack along the back that you can see in the photos. There is also a small plug on the lower side as seen in the photos. Overall this is a very clean and well preserved piece of Martin history that sounds incredible.
Attached below is a video of Winfield guitar champ, Luke Lovejoy playing this D-28.
